On a hot but beautiful Saturday in Greenbelt, Maryland, more than 400 community members gathered for a day full of health, wellness, and celebration at the 2025 Prince George’s County Community Health Fair. Hosted by Children’s National Hospital and Prince George’s County District 4 Council Member Ingrid S. Watson, this dynamic event brought together 15 dedicated community organizations and government agencies in a vibrant show of collaboration and care.

The day kicked off with opening remarks from local leaders, including Council Members Ingrid Watson (District 4) and Wanika Fisher (District 2), Children’s National Hospital Vice President of Community Engagement, Advocacy & Government Affairs Tonya Kinlow, and Greenbelt Mayor Emmett Jordan. They were joined by Mayor Pro-Tem Kristen Weaver and City Council Member Jenni Pompi, who shared the excitement of welcoming residents to such a meaningful community event.

From there, the fun truly began. Beloved mascots like Dr. Bear from Children’s National Hospital, Clifford the Big Red Dog from Scholastic, and Major Tuddy from the Washington Commanders made special appearances, along with the Washington Commanders Command Force, energizing the crowd and bringing smiles to all in attendance. Entertainment was provided by the incredibly talented Greenbelt SITY Stars youth jump rope team and the Cultural Academy for Excellence’s Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra, adding joyful rhythm and local flair to the festivities.

Throughout the day, attendees accessed free vaccines, health screenings, and vital wellness information from a wide range of vendors, all designed to uplift and empower the community toward improved health. The event created a welcoming space for families to connect with resources, ask questions, and get the support they need to live healthier lives.

What made this event truly special was the collective energy and commitment of everyone involved. From volunteers and performers to healthcare providers and resource vendors, every contribution made a real difference.
