About The Child Health Advocacy Institute
Through leadership and collaboration, the CHAI advances policy and systems changes to achieve health equity for all children. The CHAI operationalizes this definition and our mission to advance health equity through our five departments and four core focus areas: community engagement, data, education and policy.
The CHAI is the advocacy arm of Children’s National Hospital. More than 30 years ago, our Child Health Advocacy Institute (CHAI) became the first hospital-based center focused on developing outreach programs and championing policies that build healthier lives for children. Using a population health approach, CHAI works both on the ground and with policymakers to combat DC kids’ most pressing health issues.
