GET READY! GET INVOLVED! GET INSPIRED!

GET READY!

Mark your calendars to celebrate Community Health Improvement in June 2023. Children’s National is joining the American Hospital Association and AHA Community Health Improvement in this annual recognition as a time to honor the people working in partnership to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. One week is not enough, so Children’s National is celebrating Community Health Improvement over two weeks, June 5-16, 2023. This is an excellent time to honor our organization’s efforts as we work together to enhance the communities we serve. Whether you work in population health, community health or health equity and are at a hospital, health system, public health department or other community organization, we encourage you and your teams to participate.

GET INVOLVED!

During this special time, Children’s National will engage our hospital employees and community partners to raise awareness and understanding of community health and demonstrate its benefits by holding lectures, educational events, community service opportunities and distributing communications about our community health programs at Children’s National and in the community. This includes opportunities to learn how our Community Health Improvement Plan Workgroups are addressing our 4 community health priorities: early childhood education, healthy food, health insurance coverage, and employment rate.

Spread the Word

    • Share the dates and weblink with your colleagues and community partners to increase awareness
    • Encourage your teams and partners to be active participants throughout the week

Get Social

    • Add your voice to the conversation by creating social media posts during the month of June. Share photos, videos, and articles highlighting our important community health initiatives.
    • Tweet about our Community Health Improvement Awardees – including employees and community partners! #CHIWeek
    • Send a thank-you note to one or more project partners to acknowledge their collaborative work to improve community health.

GET INSPIRED!

Community health is a multi-sector approach to provide access to preventive health services for all. We are committed to delivering health education and connecting people to resources while helping to ensure the health and safety of the environment in which people live, work and learn. It complements clinical care by striving to help people maintain and improve their health every day.

Children’s National, as part of its Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan, is focusing its efforts on reaching neighborhoods identified by the Child Opportunity Index to improve community health throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. The four community health priorities are Early Childhood Education, Healthy Food, Health Insurance Coverage and Employment. Join us in June and get inspired by our amazing and passionate employees and community partners.

By connecting clinical and community issues and partnering with multisector community stakeholders, Children’s National is making a huge impact on the health and well-being of our community.
